Recovery Updates

Athletic Facilities Update

Recovery efforts continue to move forward across our athletic facilities, with several projects advancing through construction, design, and procurement.

We're pleased to share that construction of the new cross-country course is now underway. Work is expected to be completed within the next three weeks, allowing our cross-country teams to enjoy a full fall season on campus. We're also excited to welcome our school community back to the River Trail, where families will once again be able to enjoy one of the most scenic areas of our campus.

The Track & Field project has experienced delays due to an extended permitting process. To ensure the remaining work is completed as efficiently and responsibly as possible, the project is currently being rebid before construction resumes. We recently received the bid proposals and are in the process of reviewing them to determine the best path forward. Once a contractor is selected and approved, work will resume as quickly as possible. Because the football field remains part of the active construction area, football will begin the season at alternate locations. While we know everyone was looking forward to the team's return to campus, this approach allows construction to continue safely while we work toward bringing football back home as soon as possible.

Elsewhere, dugout plans are being finalized for permit submission, the baseball clubhouse continues through the design process, and we are obtaining quotes for sidewalks connecting the athletic fields and bleacher pads.

While some of the most important progress happens behind the scenes, we continue to move steadily toward restoring and enhancing our athletic facilities. We are grateful for our community's continued patience, encouragement, and support as this work progresses.

The Highlights

  • Traffic Safety Updates Near Campus

This school year, please be aware of two recent traffic changes near campus designed to keep our students and community safe.

A new school zone is now in effect on Riverwood Road, with reduced speed limits during arrival and dismissal hours. Please note that traffic violations within the school zone during these times carry increased fines under NC law.

In addition, the speed limit on U.S. Highway 70 has been reduced from 55 mph to 45 mph between Porter's Cove (Interstate 40, Exit 55) and Warren Wilson Road.

As you head to and from campus this year, please allow a few extra minutes for travel, watch closely for students and pedestrians, and observe the new speed limits. Thank you for helping keep our ACA community safe.

  • 🎒 Welcome Back! A Quick Reminder on SchoolPass

As we kick off the new school year, we want to ensure daily dismissals run as smoothly, safely, and efficiently as possible for all of our students and families!

All changes to your child's end-of-day plans - whether for carpool, after-school activities, or bus transportation, must be logged through SchoolPass.

If you need a quick refresher or are new to the platform, check out these short video tutorials to help you navigate the process:

Thank you for your cooperation in helping us keep our carpool line and bus departures safe and organized from day one!

  • Rooted In Dependence: Danielle Teague, ACA Bible Teacher

In this episode, of Stories Rooted in Faith, Deborah Stuart sits down with ACA’s Danielle Teague, an upper school Bible teacher whose classroom is a space for deep transformation. Danielle shares her personal pursuit of dependence on Jesus and how she actively uses her love for God’s word to make disciples of the next generation.

From navigating profound seasons of personal loss to witnessing the way God redeems pain for His glory, Danielle offers a powerful look at what it means to point students toward His unwavering faithfulness. Her passion for scriptures and discipleship shines through in every story, every interaction, and every moment captured in this episode.

This is the story of a teacher who embodies beauty from ashes and dependence over self-sufficiency. Don’t miss this inspiring episode.

  • Cafeteria Food Safety Update: Cyclosporiasis Precautions

We want to reassure our ACA families that we are taking every precaution to protect our students and staff from the recent increase in cyclosporiasis cases reported across the United States.

Flik’s Food Safety and Quality Assurance teams are working closely with the CDC, FDA, suppliers, and food safety experts to monitor this evolving situation. As an added precaution, Flik has suspended the use of certain products and suppliers connected to the investigation, and any potentially affected items identified within the supply chain are promptly removed from service.

Flik maintains rigorous food safety and sanitation standards across all operations, sourcing only from approved suppliers who are required to maintain comprehensive food safety programs, including third-party certifications and product traceability.

We will continue to monitor this situation closely and share updates as needed. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Celebrating Our 2026 SENIOR PROJECTS

We are so proud to share the incredible senior projects completed by members of the Class of 2026, each one leaving a lasting mark on our campus and community.

The Class of 2026 came together to design a beautiful, sacred space surrounding the senior rock next to the future senior parking lot, creating a meaningful spot for reflection that future classes will enjoy for years to come.

Jackson Laufer brought his Eagle Scout Project to life with the creation of a peaceful prayer garden outside of Upper School, offering our students and staff a quiet space for prayer and reflection right on campus.

Lucas Bates, also completing his Eagle Scout Project, placed birdhouses throughout our campus, adding beauty and life to the outdoor spaces our community enjoys every day.

We are deeply grateful to Jackson, Lucas, and the entire Class of 2026 for their vision, hard work, and heart for our school. These projects are true gifts that will bless our campus for years to come!

International Student Homestay Program

Would You Consider Hosting an International Student Next School Year?

At Asheville Christian Academy, we are committed to fostering a diverse community that values cultural exchange and understanding. Through our International Homestay Program, we welcome students from around the world.

As a host family, you will receive a $1,000 monthly stipend to help offset hosting costs. More importantly, you will have the opportunity to provide a warm, loving, and nurturing home for a student far from their own family. This experience is more than just a cultural exchange - it’s a chance to build lifelong connections and friendships while reflecting Christ’s love and compassion.
