The Power of Partnership: Understanding the Corporation Meeting
One of the distinctives of Asheville Christian Academy is that we are not simply a school you attend, we are a community you belong to. One of the most important expressions of that belonging is our upcoming Corporation Meeting, which will be held on Tuesday, March 24th at 6:00 PM.
At ACA, partnership is not just a phrase we use; it is a structure we live within. The Corporation Meeting is one of the clearest ways our parents actively participate in the life and future of the school. It is where engagement moves beyond the classroom, beyond the carpool line, and into the stewardship of the institution itself.
Our corporate members, primarily our employees and parents, play a vital role in governance through the election of the Board of Trustees. This matters deeply. The Board is entrusted with setting the overarching direction of Asheville Christian Academy. They do not manage the day-to-day operations of the school, but they are responsible for safeguarding the mission, ensuring long-term sustainability, and holding the organization accountable to its stated purpose: to seek to serve Jesus Christ and uphold His preeminence in all things.
In turn, the Board has one employee: the Head of School.
This is a critical distinction in how our governance model functions. The Head of School is entrusted with the full responsibility of organizational leadership and productivity. Simply put, the Board defines what we are aiming toward, and the Head of School is responsible for how we get there.
This structure is not accidental—it is intentional. It creates a healthy system of checks and balances.
The Corporation affirms and appoints the Board.
The Board establishes direction, guards the mission, and evaluates the Head of School.
The Head of School leads the organization and is accountable for outcomes.
When each part of this system functions as designed, it creates clarity, alignment, and strength. And when something begins to drift—whether in mission, leadership, or execution this same structure provides the necessary accountability to bring things back into alignment.
In other words, this is not just governance—it is stewardship. Your participation in the Corporation Meeting is not procedural; it is purposeful. It is an opportunity to engage in the shaping of ACA’s future, to affirm leadership, and to ensure that we remain firmly rooted in the mission God has entrusted to us.
We often say that ACA exists in committed partnership with Christian parents. The Corporation Meeting is one of the most tangible ways that partnership is lived out. Thank you for being a vital part of this community and for leaning in as we steward it together.
Together in Christ, Jesus.
Dr. Jason Putnam

This month, our Character Education focus is on Self-Control and Gentleness, with an emphasis on Honesty and Integrity. Jesus valued honesty and integrity, teaching that a life aligned with truth and goodness reflects His character. Throughout His ministry, Jesus consistently spoke the truth, even when it was difficult, demonstrating that honesty is not only right but loving. He showed that truth should always be used to build others up and to honor God.
Jesus modeled perfect self-control and gentleness in the way He interacted with others. Even when faced with opposition, misunderstanding, and injustice, He responded with calm strength and unwavering integrity. His example teaches students that self-control is choosing what is right over what is easy, and gentleness is strength guided by love. Honesty and integrity require both, disciplining our words and actions so they reflect Christ.
It is important to teach students that honesty and integrity are the foundation for strong relationships and mutual respect. When students learn to be truthful, trustworthy, and fair in all things, they reflect Christ in their daily lives. Acting justly and honorably builds trust and creates a community marked by kindness and accountability. Scripture reminds us of this truth in Luke 6:31, “Do to others as you would have them do to you.”
As we focus on self-control and gentleness this month, may we encourage students to be truthful and trustworthy in all things, allowing their words and actions to reflect Christ’s character in every situation.

ACA Corporation
At Asheville Christian Academy, we are more than a school. We are a community shaped by shared purpose and partnership. One meaningful way families engage in that partnership is through membership in the ACA Corporation.
Each year, parents and employees are invited to join the Corporation and play a vital role in supporting the school’s mission and future. Corporation members help affirm leadership through the election of the Board of Trustees, who safeguard ACA’s mission and direction while the Head of School leads its daily work. Together, this structure provides clarity, accountability, and long term strength.
Becoming part of the Corporation is more than a formality. It is an opportunity to participate in stewardship, invest in the life of the school, and help ensure ACA remains rooted in its Christ centered mission for the 2026 to 2027 school year.
Thank you for being an essential part of our community.
