Admissions FAQs
Getting Started &
Application Questions
-
Pre-Kindergarten students must be 4 years old by August 31 and fully potty trained. Kindergarten students must be 5 years old by August 31.
-
Yes. Applications for the upcoming school year open in November. Families may apply at any point after applications open. However, we do not begin admitting new families in grades 1–12 until March.
-
While we continue to accept applications after August 1, we cannot guarantee that they will be processed prior to the first day of school.
-
Teacher and pastor references are an important part of the application process but may feel challenging to coordinate. When you reach the reference letter section of the application, simply enter the email addresses of the individuals you are asking to complete a reference. We will send an online request directly to those references, and they will reply to the school. An example reference letter is also available to help families understand what is required.
Admissions & Enrollment
-
The timeline can vary depending on grade level, how quickly required materials are submitted, and the time of year. For regular-decision applications, an admissions decision takes approximately two weeks after the parent and student conferences are completed. Applications submitted late in the summer may take longer and are reviewed based on available space.
-
After the application and required materials are submitted, we will guide your family through the remaining admissions steps. Depending on the student’s grade level, this may include entrance evaluations, conferences, transcript review, and other documentation. Families may monitor their application status and will be contacted as additional steps are needed.
-
Once you receive an acceptance letter, you will have approximately 10 days to complete the enrollment packet. This includes demographic information, an enrollment contract, and a $1,000 non-refundable deposit.
-
We consider senior transfers on an individual basis. Because graduation requirements and credits vary from school to school, we will review the student’s transcript and course history to determine what is needed for the student to graduate from ACA. Families considering a senior transfer are encouraged to begin the conversation with Admissions as early as possible to see if we can accommodate the individual student situation.
Tuition & Financial Assistance
-
We offer a Variable Tuition program designed to make a Christ-centered education more accessible to families. If a family wishes to be considered for Variable Tuition, they are first required to apply for the North Carolina Opportunity Scholarship. Tuition assistance is based on available resources and family financial circumstances, so we encourage families to apply as early as possible.
-
The North Carolina Opportunity Scholarship is a state-funded program that helps eligible North Carolina families pay for their children to attend a participating private school, including Asheville Christian Academy.
The scholarship provides financial assistance toward private school tuition. The funds are awarded through the state and may be used toward tuition at eligible participating schools.
Key things families should know
Who may apply? North Carolina students entering Kindergarten through 12th grade who meet state eligibility requirements.
How much is it? Awards vary by household income and family size, with amounts ranging from $3,000 to $8,000 per student.
Does it cover all tuition? Not necessarily. Families are responsible for any remaining tuition and fees beyond the scholarship award.
How do families apply? Through the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority’s online MyPortal system.
-
Families should apply for tuition assistance as early as possible. Late applications may be considered if funds remain available, but assistance is not guaranteed. Variable Tuition is subject to available resources and is not automatically awarded to every family who applies.
Student Support
-
Yes. We welcome students with a variety of learning styles and abilities within the scope of our educational mission, available resources, and programmatic space. Students with mild to moderate learning differences and average to above-average aptitude may qualify for additional support through our Learning Connections program. The level of support is determined after the student applies and the school reviews the appropriate documentation. Learning Connections services require additional financial requirements above standard tuition. Please see the Learning Connections section for more information.
